Questions we get
What do you carry?
Eleven product families, from electrical and electronic components through valves, fasteners and hardware, vehicle and engine parts, aviation and ground support, pumps and filtration, fittings and hose, power transmission and bearings, sealing, instruments, and lighting and safety. The line card lists what sits in each.
How long is your lead time?
Stock items ship from Chicago on receipt of order. Fill-in and made-to-order items are quoted with the manufacturer's lead time on each line.
How do I know the parts will be what I ordered?
We source to the manufacturer's part number you specify and buy only from the manufacturer or an authorized distributor. If we offer an alternate, we say so on the quote.
Certificates of conformance and country of origin are supplied on request. Quality covers traceability and counterfeit avoidance in full.
Are you ISO 9001 or AS9120 registered?
No, and we will not imply otherwise. We are a distributor: the quality system that governs a manufactured part is the manufacturer's, and their certification is what we pass through with the certificate of conformance and the traceability record. If your specification requires a registered distributor, say so at quote time and we will tell you we cannot meet it.
Do you sell online?
No. We do not sell through marketplaces or online retail. Orders come by phone or email against a purchase order, and products ship in the manufacturer's packaging with the warranty intact.
Do you sell to resellers?
No. We buy from manufacturers and their authorized distributors and sell to end-user maintenance accounts.
What is the warranty?
Parts carry the original manufacturer's warranty, which passes to you. We do not extend a separate warranty on manufactured product.
What is your return policy?
Non-conforming or incorrectly shipped material may be returned for replacement or credit within 30 days. Contact us for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) before returning anything. Where a discrepancy is ours, return freight is ours.
How do you avoid counterfeit parts?
We buy only from original manufacturers and their authorized or franchised distributors. Where an item is only available through the independent market, we decline the line rather than supply undocumented material. Our practice follows the intent of SAE standards AS5553 and AS6081.
Is there a minimum order?
No. There is no minimum order.
Can I get payment terms?
Card or prepay on a first order. Payment terms are available to established accounts on request. For credit references or a current IRS Form W-9, contact ap@lxxxiv.us.
I manufacture or distribute a line. How do I reach you?
Send your line card through the form on the Manufacturers page, or email a catalog and price file to purchasing@lxxxiv.us. That page also lists what our account looks like and what we send with an application.
Will you take a stocking commitment?
On a line where the movement is real, yes, and we will discuss it once there is a record to discuss. We will not claim a stocking commitment before that to win an appointment.
We already have a distributor in Chicago. Why add another?
Usually because the traffic we take is traffic the incumbent is not taking: single-part repair orders in small quantity against a hard date, across eleven families rather than one. We are not asking for a territory or exclusivity, so nothing changes for the distributor you have.
What do you need to open a supplier account with a manufacturer?
Your account application, price list and terms. Our W-9, Illinois and multistate resale certificates and company profile are ready to send the same day. The Manufacturers page covers how we work with a line.
